[Music] Erykah Badu – Fall In Love (Your Funeral)

This is by far my favorite track so far off Erykah’s latest album “New Amerykah Part 2: Return of The Ankh”. That sample has been used before totally but I can recall it from an old 213 track and a Drake mixtape track as well. The album dropped this past Tuesday and I’ve had a chance to give it 2 full spins so far and I’ve thoroughly enjoyed it so check it out!

[Video] J. Cole – Who Dat (live)

Here’s J. Cole performing a BRAND NEW track he’s never done before @ SOB’s in NYC for the Hot 97 “Who’s Next” showcase. He of course kills it and the verses are both very dope along with the hook. I’m looking forward to a CDQ leak of this very soon!

[Photo] Jay-Z & Dr.Dre working on single (off Detox) dropping this week?

jaydre

Here’s a pic released late last night of Jay-Z and Dr. Dre supposedly taken recently while working on a new single off the long-awaited “Detox” album. Earlier this week Michael Yo of E! News posted a message on Twitter telling everyone to watch out this week for a Jay-z & Dr. Dre single off Detox. Now, for all of you hip hop heads out there, we’ve been waiting for this album since 2006 when there was first talk about it. I really want to believe all this hype but until we get some solid audio, I can’t be too confident! Jay is my favorite MC hands down & Dre is definitely within my Top 10 producers. Hopefully they can pull off something a bit more dope than their last collab on “Kingdom Come”.

[Video] 24 Hour Karate School Mixtape – Visual Trailer

Here’s a visual look at the upcoming & highly anticipated 24 Hour Karate School Mixtape put together by Ski Beatz & Dame Dash. Dame opened up a new studio in downtown NYC in his DD172 space (art gallery, studio, chill spot) and the studio was coined the “24 Hour Karate School” by Mos Def & Curren$y. This video is a small snippet into each of the tracks that are included on the mixtape. Artists include: Mos Def, Curren$y, Jay Electronica, Jim Jones, The Cool Kids, Stalley, Ras Kass, Nikki Wray, Wiz Khalifa, Jean Grae & Camp Lo. Release date WAS March 30th but due to sample clearances its release date is now TBA.

Produced by Ski Beatz off his upcoming (was supposed to drop yesterday) 24 Hour Karate School Mixtape. I’m really highly anticipating this one and if you want to check out the tracklisting (filled with dope artists) then be sure to check out the 24 Hour Karate School website.

[Music] Charles Hamilton & B.O.B. – PaperBoy

B.O.B.charlesm

If you’ve ever heard of Charles Hamilton or followed him previously then you know how eccentric, egotistical, and consistent he WAS with his music.  Charles had a campaign at the end of ’08 where he released a new mixtape (with all new content) every 2 weeks for 3 months. After that he was releasing tapes and trying to promote his album. Charles pulled a pretty large “no-no” right before his albums release, he added the late  great J Dilla (if you don’t know him, you will when you check his resume) as an exec. producer on his album. A lot of people close to the Dilla camp took this as a negative action and essentially killed his buzz by comments, posts, videos. Now he’s back in the limelight he’s released 2 tapes already this year, and now collaborating with more artists. He’s also been less cocky, arrogant, etc etc etc.

B.O.B. is a newer artist that is bubbling pretty big in the industry. Originally from Atlanta, he’s catching the eye of some the big artists & blogs that follow hip hop. His debut album “The Adventures of Bobby Ray” is set to drop on April 27th and he’s been putting himself out there in light of that album release date. I’m not too sure if this track is going to be on an upcoming mixtape or not but regardless he GOES IN.

Shout out to 2dopeboyz for the audio.

[Music] Nickelus F feat. XV – Shine On

Shine On

Download: Nickelus F Feat. XV- Shine On

Nickelus F (formerly Nick Fury) has been around for some time. I first discovered him on one of Drake’s older mixtapes and as things progressed, I started to notice him more and more. He started out on 106  & Park (remember AJ & Free??) as a part of their Freestyle Friday series and went on to win 7 weeks straight. He’s had a slew of mixtapes out since and I’ve come to trust him when I see a song by him come up.

XV has been making appearances all over the place lately and recently dropped his “30 Minute Layover” mixtape. XV are the roman numerals for the # 15 at which the age he began to start making music. Originally from Kansas (he’s not southern-styled) you can tell he’s really about his city getting on the map when rhyming and I think XXL missed large out when they didn’t add him to the 2010 Freshman List (but thats a whole other story.)
