The Droppin’ Knowledge crew delivers another must see show in February. Fashawn, reppin’ Fresno, Cali. has been making a name for himself for years, specifically with his ’09 Boy Meets World LP produced entirely by Exile.  Also on the bill is Toronto crew Notes to Self, who we’ve been featuring a lot recently, Fundament, & DJ James Redi.

The Yelawolf shows scheduled for this week: Wednesday at London Music Hall & Thursday at The Phoenix in Toronto, have been postponed.

After his performance Friday, March 2nd in Madison, WI, Yelawolf was admitted to a local hospital where he remains under observation for illness. At the request of his doctor, shows for the next couple of weeks will be postponed to a later date.

Hailing from Seattle known mostly for Ken Griffey JR’s glory days on the Seattle mariners and the prodigious space needle, Seattle is not explicitly known for breeding MC’s and hip hop like New York or LA. What others might view as an impediment to mainstream stardom, I think it adds a special element to Macklemore as an MC and performer. Having been to a few hip-hop shows with performers from across the globe I can say I’m all too familiar with rappers from more prominent regions performing with a sense of entitlement and giving less than a 100 percent because they happen to be from a notable city.

Toolshed returns to their hometown for the 7th annual Xmas Wrap, and as always they’re bringing a gang of talented homies to help celebrate. Fellow Backburner member Thesis Sahib’s live show always crushes, local monsters Moore & Exit Only are sure to impress, and recent Toronto import Waffle comes home to release his new CD. Psybo is back from out west, so this will be the first Toolshed show since their new album dropped. Things might get a little crazy, and we hope to see you there. To top things off, local legend DJ Hullewud will be spinning hip hop classics and holiday jams all night. If you’re sick of the family, take a break…if you’re not, bring ‘em out.
