[News] Notorious B.I.G 15 Year Anniversary XXL Magazine Cover And Interview with T’yanna Wallace

March 9th 2012 marks the 15 year anniversary of Notorious B.I.G untimely passing. To celebrate his legacy XXL magazine has released a special collectors edition issue. The issue includes never told before stories and exclusive photos from those closest to Biggie. It also has a great interview with Biggie’s son CJ Wallace and daughter T’yanna Wallace discussing their fathers impact on them, what it is like growing up as Biggie’s children and whether they will ever follow in their fathers footsteps. The collectors issue is available on newsstands now.

R.I.P B.I.G GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

[News] XXL Magazine 5th Annual Freshman Class 2012

XXL magazine has just released their yearly controversial Freshman Class 2012 cover. Each year the magazine causes an uproar by choosing ten up and coming MC’s they feel the public should look out for in the new year. Notable alums include Wale, Kid Cudi, J.Cole, Big K.R.I.T and Mac Miller respectively. For the last few years many have felt that the list is biased and unfair due to manufactured artist buzz and the relationships between editors, publicists and managers. This year’s list is no different in receiving its share of controversy however, I feel there are two MC’s worth mentioning that deserve the recognition they are receiving. Seattle MC Macklemore definitely deserves a mention as thecomeupshow.com has seen him live and can attest to his skills and energy on the mic. Another MC I feel worth mentioning is French Montana, I know he’s not the most gifted MC however, his charisma and swagger makes you want to rock out when one of his songs come on. Other than the above-mentioned artists I do not really agree with this year’s selection. What do you think? Do you agree with XXL magazines choices? Who do you feel was left out?.

[Review] Phife Dawg Concert @ Apk Live Feb 16 (London)

The Phife Dawg concert at Alex P. Keaton (APK) Live on Thursday, February 16 was quite a special affair, as it was Phife Dawg’s first show in London, Ontario. In addition, there was a strong line-up of South Western Ontario opening Hip-Hop acts, including Young Stunna, Soundminds, and Raz Fresco, who were backed up by highly respected local DJ, DJ Ruckus, who also recently DJ’ed for Raekwon at his concert on January 20th at the London Music Hall

[Review] Sts- The Illustrious

STS (A.K.A. Sugar Tongued Slim’s) debut full-length album, The Illustrious, which was released in late December of 2011, is an brilliant piece of musical artistry from the highly talented Atlanta, Georgia bred emcee. In an genre where true emceeing and rapping talent are few and far between, STS’ slick emceeing style and poetic lyrics are like a breath of fresh air. However, lately it seems that there has been a re-emergence or renaissance of a significant number of talented artists in the past few years, including, Drake, Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, and Yelawolf (to name a few). Now the interesting thing about STS is that he actually started out as a poet performing at local poetry slams in Atlanta, Georgia to make some money, until somebody told him that he should rap. And the rest was history, or rather, is part of modern Hip-Hop history in the making.

[News] Jay-Z & Beyonce Trademark Blue Ivy Carter’s Name

Before you start getting mad, the main reason why Hov and Beyonce had to trademark their daughters name Blue Ivy Carter is for protection. Right after their daughter was born, two companies tried to file a trademark for Blue Ivy Carter’s name. This is why on January 26th Jay-Z and Beyonce filed a trademark application for the name and they want exclusive ownership of “Blue Ivy Carter” in connection with cosmetics, recordings, baby products, clothing, toys, video games, and motion picture films. So hey it might have made them realize they can make it a business.

The rich keep getting richer.

Props to Killer Hip-Hop.
