This is definitely the age of get-up-and-get-yours opportunity. Att’n all DJ’s and Producers, who can now enter a competition- opened August 29th- to score the opening act for Deadmau5’s much anticipated Homecoming Tent Party in London, Ontario.

The DJ battle starts September 12th and will wrap up sometime before the main event on October 2nd. The best track/mix takes the slot.

The prize? Airfare and transport covered, a professional DJ fee, and the best of all, a surreal night of beat mayhem sharing the stage with the music industry’s favorite cartoon head.

Presumably the competition is worldwide (given the transportation enticement) so bring it, London. Let’s keep this one homegrown.

My embarrassing and funny moment when I was emceeing Afrofesta. I announced that a few cars had to move because they were parked in the emergency lane. I clearly described the car make and license plate, 5 minutes later I found out that one of the cars were mine…..Nevertheless I told the audience and we all laughed.

If you didn’t have advance tickets and you arrived after 10:30pm at Call The Office, the sign above is what you saw. I feel bad for the people who were denied but it seems like common sense to me.

When I interviewed Shad on Thursday (interview coming soon), I asked him why two shows back to back? He told me there were so many people who were denied last time that he didn’t want that to happen again, so he had a show on Thursday and Friday. There was at least 300 people on Thursday and more than 450 on Friday.

The people who arrived after 10:30pm must’ve thought it wasn’t going to sell out, especially that early at a HIP-HOP show, I know I was surprised myself.

When Quince! first contacted me he made sure his first impression was strong. The first song I got from him was “Pain, Struggle, Victory”, and I added it on 106.9 and it was on rotation for 50 weeks!! Since then I have always been supporting him and The Come Up Show.com is proud to present Quince! Comin’ Up.

This is what Quince said on his myspace blog about the name Streetscape Sounds.

Coming from the ‘less desirable’ end of society, our experiences have taken us down some rough paths and places in our life time. Our goal as artists, is to relate these experiences back to you, the listener, through sound. So, in a sense, your ears are the canvas, as we transform everyday life, into sounds, painting you a vivid picture of the surroundings…. Streetscapes. Portraits for the streets.
