This was an amazing concert that I won’t forget. The city showed a lot of love for Richie Blackz performance at the Wale Ambition tour at the London Music Hall. Check out the footage below.

Ghettosocks just dropped the visuals for “Invincible”, the lead single off his upcoming album. If you followed Fresh Kils’ MPC series on The Come Up Show, then the beat should be immediately recognizable as Kils’ Transformers routine. For his part, Ghettosocks provides solid bars over a beat that I originally thought to be untouchable. El Da Sensei, a guest feature, also holds his own. Oh, and the video’s pretty funny, too. The day after I post about Raekwon and JD Era on Paypa’s new track, Raekwon releases this video of himself and ICE H2O signees JD Era and Kofi Black at SXSW. They were recently there as part of their Unexpected Victory tour. The video includes concert footage, and them meeting up with other artists such as Havoc of Mobb Deep, Curren$y, 40 Glocc, and Noyd. The song at the start of the video is “Silk”, off Raekwon’s Unexpected Victory mixtape.

“Forgotten” is the first release from Snak The Ripper’s forthcoming album White Dynamite which is due for release later this year. This is the first I’ve heard of Snak The Ripper, but his raw and rugged style caught my attention right away. Snak’s talents have got him praise over on the West Coast in his hometown of Vancouver, as he won the “Best Hip Hop Artist” award at the 2011 Urban Culture Conference Awards. N-Jin (from Austria) deserves some serious credit as well for the production on “Forgotten”. Peep the video below and don’t forget to check back for updates on White Dynamite.

“There is the man of yesterday, and the man of tomorrow. Time plays no part in the quickening of the spirit. The gate is ever open. Today is like all other days. There is only today.”
Saskatoon/Toronto rapper and producer Muneshine just released the promo video for his upcoming album, There Is Only Today. In the video, he talks about his recent East Coast Music Awards and Juno nominations, the recently completed Train of Thought tour with Ghettosocks, Timbuktu, and Jeff Spec, the meaning behind his album title, and his goal for the album. Keep on the lookout for more about There Is Only Today as it gets released, The Come Up Show will definitely be following its progress.

A couple months ago Tech Rymes dropped these dope visuals directed by TraYne Films for his song “Anarchy Republic”. Tech borrows the “Motivation” instrumental from one of my personal favourite producers, Clams Casino. Tech Rymes has been on the YouTube scene for a while now but this track really shows how he’s grown and matured as an artist. I’m definitely feeling the direction Tech seems to be taking with his music and I think this could be the beginning of things to come for the Brampton, Ontario native.

When a song becomes so popular to the masses, it’s only natural that other artists offer up their interpretation of the original version. In this case, Toronto MC’s J.Moy, Set2 and Drega release their version of the Rick Ross cut “Stay Schemin”. I must say out of all the remix’s I have seen, this one comes the closest. What do you think? Take a look, let us know in the comments section.

Known for tearing rappers to shreds in battles, rapper Iron Solomon took some time away from destroying sucker MC’s to travel to SXSW. Showcasing his skills at various events he captured some dope behind the scenes footage of his performances and peers he chopped it up with throughout his journey at the yearly festival.
Make sure to look out for his debut LP Monster coming out March 27th. The LP is available on Itunes now.

A great interview conducted by Carson Daly in Austin, Texas. Daly caught up with Kendrick Lamar at SXSW to talk about Kendrick’s debut album and what he expects from himself, even though I think Section 80 and Overly Dedicated are albums in my opinion. Carson Daly also gets Kendrick to explain how it’s going for people to know him through his 16 bars which is a verse from “Average Joe”. Check this out and more below.

Friend’s become stranger just to destroy and rebuild…Nas you think they ready? Damn the rap game is about to get a face lift!! I’m reloaded.- AZ
I got the opportunity to link up with AZ when he was in Toronto for Rock The Bells which featured Nas, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, and Lauryn Hill. AZ had a few minutes after he came back from an after party with Nas and Preemo. AZ talked to me about Doe Or Die 2, a follow up after the classic Doe or Die, he told us it’s on a whole another level since it’s been 15-16 years in the making. Another common remark you hear about AZ is how underrated and unappreciated he is, so he told us what he thought about that. I also asked AZ what plans him and Nas had since they plan to give “the game a face lift”. Check this out and more in our interview with AZ on The Come Up Show.

While at SXSW, the Brooklyn MC and former 106 & Park freestyle contestant announced that his next album, A Dream Deferred, will be released on September 18th this year. I’ve been a fan of Skyzoo since I heard The Salvation back in 2009, so I’m definitely excited for this. He also announced that leading up to A Dream Deferred, he’ll be dropping a mixtape called Theo vs. JJ: “Dreams vs. Reality”, which will pick up where his previous mixtape, The Great Debater, left off. Check out his interview from SXSW with 2DB and TheWellVersed below, and check out the video for “Written In The Drums”, off The Great Debater. Photo credit to The Smoking Section.
